Tamanu is the Polynesian name for Calophyllum Inophyllum, «the tree of thousand virtues», the sacredtree of royal marae, or Ati enjoys a very special place in the Maori culture.
It is used by Vahine to protect their children’s skin.
The tree is also scattered in Indian Ocean and especially in Madagascar, identified in the Mangrove swamp where it develops aerial roots and withe flowers with hudge fragrance.
The oil’s quality comes from its origin and preparation. The nuts are exclusively gathered on the beaches, then dried up in the sun, then the oil is obtained from first cold pression and filtered. It green colour to clear browncome from the presence of a specific resin.
A resin (10 % to 16 %) containing mainly: phenolenic compounds such as: Biflavonoids, neoflavonoids, xanthones, trepenoids.

Properties and Cosmetic Applications
Used in frictions or massages on painful joints or in cases of pains, sciatica and rheumatism, oil can be used in compresses for the treatment of wounds and scars.
Repair balms and otions (afteshav, posdepilatory or after-sun products), anti-ageing serums and hand creams, night creams, dry and damaged skin care, lip balms, reparative nail care, conditioning and repair masks and lotions for dryand damaged hair.

Skin and Hair Applications
Tamanu oil is endowed with smoothing, moisturizing, regenerativen, purifying and free-radical properties.
